3D Packaging Mockup Generator instructions

Build a photorealistic carton mockup in the browser, then export a still, a looping video, or an interactive link for a client.

Nothing is uploaded to a server. Your artwork stays in your browser.

Quick start

1. Set the size: Dimensions, in millimetres.

2. Add artwork: pick a face under Faces, then upload an image.

3. Choose a look: Finish and Lighting.

4. Export: Save as a PNG image or a looping video.

Drag the box to rotate. Scroll to zoom. “Reset view” returns to the default angle.

The controls

Dimensions

Width, height and depth in mm. Type a number or drag the slider.

Preset view

• Select from nine fixed camera angles: we recommend using one of these if you need multiple mockups with a matching camera position.

• Turn Auto-rotate off first, or the box will spin away from the angle you picked.

Lighting

Six options, each with its own reflections.

Exposure

Brightness and Contrast: adjust to your needs.

Light angle: swings the lights and reflections around the box, for use when a highlight lands awkwardly across the artwork.

Edge

The fold radius, in mm of real board.

Backdrop

Colour: paste any hex code, or pick from ten presets.

Image: upload a photo to sit behind the box.

Vignette: darkens toward the edges. 35% is a light touch.

Colour cast: tints the fill light toward the backdrop's colour, so the box looks like it belongs in the scene rather than pasted on.

Floor shadow: a contact shadow beneath the box. Off by default; turn it on for a grounded look on pale backdrops.

Faces

Six faces: front, back, left, right, top, bottom. Click a face, then upload artwork for it.

- Upload flat artwork at the finished trim size.

- Aspect ratio should match that face's proportions, or the image will stretch.

Export image

Save PNG: mockup with background included

Transparent PNG: no backdrop or shadow, for compositing.

Export video

One full rotation, so the file loops seamlessly.

Size: square 1080, landscape 1920×1080, portrait 1080×1920, or the current viewport.

Duration: 3 to 12 seconds. 6-8 seconds suits a packshot; three is brisk.

Videos export as MP4 in most browsers; Firefox produces WebM instead. Recording happens in real time, so a six-second video takes six seconds. Keep the tab in the foreground or it will stall.

Sharing with a client

"Export shareable file" produces a single HTML file with the setup and artwork inside. Email it or drop it in shared storage. The client double-clicks and it opens in their browser, works offline, and shows only the finish, lighting and export controls.

Use the "Compact" toggle for a smaller file (about 1.5 MB instead of 3–8 MB) when it has to survive email. Quality is indistinguishable on screen.

"Load preset" reopens a saved setup for further editing.

For projects under NDA, do not share any mockups via publicly accessible links, always use a secure file-sharing service.

Tips

"Hide panel" (top right) clears the interface for a clean look at the box. Press Esc to bring it back.

Save a preset before experimenting. It captures everything, artwork included, so you can always get back.

A wider browser window gives a bigger 3D view and higher-resolution PNG exports.

For a consistent range, set up one box, save the preset, then load it for each variant and swap only the artwork.

If something looks wrong

Gloss looks flat: check the artwork is dark enough to reflect. Try Pack shot studio and raise Contrast.

Artwork looks stretched: the image aspect doesn't match the face. Re-export at the correct proportions.

Preset view does nothing: check whether Auto-rotate is still on.

Video export fails: the tab lost focus during recording, or the browser lacks a supported codec. Try again in Chrome or Safari.

The box looks muddy on a dark backdrop: turn Edge up from Sharp, or raise Contrast to sharpen the highlights.
