Having enjoyed working with its founder Clare Dolan previously, I was pleased to be asked to design and build the website for her new brand consultancy Good Egg Consulting.
The brief was to take the existing logo and develop a site which would express Good Egg’s purpose-driven, agile approach and drive new business. After an in-depth discussion with Clare to establish the site’s aims as well as those of her business, I put together a site specification document, with a simple site plan and user journey to help ensure that the site is best structured for its users and its purpose.
I designed the site with a strict colour palette of black, white and egg yolk yellow to make it memorable and sophisticated. I then adapted egg-inspired imagery with close crops and recoloured it into the site’s palette in order to bring the brand to life.
I built the site using Squarespace, as its structure and features are straightforward. This enabled me to keep costs down by not needing to engage a specialist developer for the project, and because Squarespace sites require minimal updating for technical reasons.
I provided advice on keywording, basic legal and privacy requirements and optimising the text on the site for SEO. Once it was live I optimised the site for SEO, as well as setting up SEO and analytics services to enable it to be further optimised in the future.
