I have designed, animated and edited a range of videos for freelancer-powered professional and creative services provider Hoxby, which I am an associate of.
An animated case study was required in order to showcase Hoxby’s successful work on Unilever’s Cleanipedia content hub. In order to maximise its use and the limited budget, I was briefed to create a video which could be recut as bite size chunks for use on social media, as well as played in its entirety.
Collaborating with the scriptwriters, Creative Director and marketeers, I designed, animated and edited the videos, which were then well received on social media, and the full length version is being used in pitches and presentations.
I was brought in to create a short launch video for The Hoxby Foundation, intended to generate interest from potential partners and explain what the Foundation does.
I was brought in towards the end of a wider branding project for The Hoxby Foundation, working alongside copywriters, branding designers, creative director and business directors.
I started out by helping to define the parameters of the video, and after some initial work exploring a different tone, it was decided to go with this upbeat look and feel.
As time and budget were limited and the piece needed to be part of the Hoxby family, I incorporated the new branding alongside a few animated elements from a previous Hoxby video. I added my own custom animations throughout and developed a fast-paced edit which was closely timed with the music track.
This was a fun project to work on, a video to celebrate the 5th birthday of Hoxby. I was supplied with an exuberant song created and performed by my fellow Hoxby Cat Lewis-Shand, along with a selection of photography.
I started out by putting together a rough animatic of the piece in order to establish the look and feel and to gauge the timing. Once this was approved, then I added suitably zingy animations to match the celebratory tone of the music.
It was all created at speed and on a tight budget, working as part of a remote team. The completed piece was published on Instagram as well as internally on Hoxby’s Slack channel.
I’ve been an associate with Hoxby for over a year now, and have really enjoyed meeting creatives from many different fields through project work as well as the Al Desko series of virtual meetups for creatives which I organise.
Hoxby has an active community of over 1,000 freelancers who can combine to tackle a wide variety of creative and business challenges. If you’d like to find out more then please get in touch!
